...One Giant Leap for All-Grain.
OK, not really but my first one-gallon brew is in the bag, er, primary.
All went fairly well. I had a couple moments of sheer panic and I still need to figure a few things out. (Or maybe more than a few things.) But the good news is, if I really messed up, I only have 128 ounces of liquid garbage to pour down the drain, not – the far more devastating to the psyche – five gallons I used to toil over.
And that really was the best thing about this first foray into all grain brewing. The fact that I'm doing such small batches, while bringing its own challenges (discussed below), really takes the pressure off of this here brewer. Not only is there so little at stake but the ease of actually manipulating the amount of water and ingredients and then a full carboy is so much easier....
