This is a recipe for the original Stone Pale Ale. According to the farewell post to the 1.0 version, Stone Brewing Co. posted this about the beer, “Maltier and more full-bodied than most American pale ales—not to mention tons hoppier than most beers at the time—it was a bold direction to go with the only beer in a fledgling portfolio.”

Spencer Trappist Ale clone
The first beer released by the first and only American Trappist brewery, The Spencer Brewery located in Spencer, Massachusetts. This beer was designed to mirror the patersbiers (“fathers’ beer” in Flemish) found in Belgium. EKU 28 Type Dopplebock
This recipe uses entirely pale malts, just as the EKU, but do not worry. This beer has plenty of malty character and a surprising amount of color. Its 28° Plato (1.112) makes it a big beer no matter how you look at it.
Lilikoi Wheat Ale
Utilizing a clean base malt profile to highlight the passionfruit flavors co-mingled with fruity-esters from the bavarian yeast.
Diamond Knot Brewery’s IPA clone
According to Diamond Knot’s website, “This is where it all started, our traditional PNW IPA. Columbus and Super Galena hops impart grapefruit and a hint of pine with a balanced maltiness.”
